Woodland Cemetery – One year of progress

Woodland Cemetery was established in 1916 for the interment of Black residents during a time of strict segregation. In August of 2020, Henrico County partnered with the Woodland Restoration Foundation to restore the historic cemetery. One year later, the progress is remarkable. Acres of overgrown grass and brush have been cleared away to uncover 3,600 headstones.
