UPDATE: Henrico police identify woman killed in domestic shooting near Highland Springs High School


HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Henrico County Police Department responded to South Oak Avenue on Monday following a domestic-related incident. After arriving at the scene, police began a homicide investigation.

Henrico County Police tweeted at 3:50 p.m. on Monday that they were investing a domestic-related incident. Later Monday evening police said a woman had been shot.

They later identified the woman as 30-year-old Sara Rose Pierce.

Police said there was an argument outside an apartment before the victim, Pierce, and a man went inside. The shooting took place indoors. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Police identified the male suspect as 34-year-old Patrick Lynn Pierce, III. He was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
