HENRICO COUNTY, Va (WRIC) — Two construction workers were killed and one was hospitalized after an incident at a residential construction site near Bacova Clubhouse in Short Pump.
First responders were called to the area just after 8:15 this morning for reports of a fire. When they arrived, crews found three men down, two were pronounced dead at the scene and one was taken to a local hospital for injuries to his arms and legs.
According to Henrico Fire, a piece of scaffolding fell from the roof of a house and came into contact with a residential power line. Detectives and OSHA are on scene investigating, the cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner and identification will come at a later time as the investigation continues.
According to Henrico Police, the incident affected power in the Short Pump area, but power has been partially restored.
Liesfeld Farms Drive between Charles Phillip Drive and Mason Glen Drive will remain closed for the next few hours. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
