Henrico County has partnered with Sun Tribe Solar to design and install a 104-kilowatt rooftop solar system at the Public Safety Building consisting of 260 solar panels (400 watts each) . The on-site renewable energy system will provide 10-15% of the electricity for the building. Sun Tribe Solar will install, operate, and maintain the system at no cost to the county, and sell the solar electricity back to Henrico County at a reduced rate compared to grid electricity. Over the next 25 years, the project is estimated to save over $56,000 for Henrico taxpayers.
