GENEVA, Ohio – Washington and Lee senior Joe O’Connor (Henrico, Va. / Douglas Freeman) placed sixth in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship on Saturday.
Highlights from the meet:
-O’Connor posted a mark of 4.90m (16’0.75″) to take sixth place. He cleared 4.90m and 4.80m on his first attempt each to own the tiebreaker over Jack Miller of LeTourneau. O’Connor claims his first outdoor All-America citation with his sixth-place finish.
-Luka Srsic of MIT took first in the event, recording a mark of 5.10m (16’8.75″) on his first attempt at that height.
-O’Connor’s sixth-place performance marks the second-highest finish at the outdoor championship by a W&L men’s track and field athlete, next to Zander Tallman ’14 who won the 400m in 2014.
