LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster men’s lacrosse team lost, 14-9, on the road against Saint Vincent in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) bout Wednesday afternoon.
“We played hard,” said head coach Travis Brown. “We just have to limit our mental mistakes and capitalize on our scoring chances at a higher rate than we did today. We’re ready to get after it tomorrow night.”
In the third period, Westminster (6-3, 2-1 PAC) scored four straight goals to tie the game at eight after first-year Gavin Jones (Henrico, VA / Douglas S. Freeman) tallied his third goal of the game off a dish from junior Hamish Mathwin (Marion, Australia / Westminster). Saint Vincent (8-1, 2-1 PAC) scored the next five goals and kept the lead for the remainder of the game.
The Titans were led by Jones, who notched a team-high three goals with one assist, followed by junior Ryan Greer (Cranberry Twp, PA / Seneca Valley) and sophomore Jimmy Sentz (Catonsville, MD / Loyola Blakefield) with two goals apiece. During the three-point performance from Greer, he scored his 100th career point and currently has 101 career-points.
Sophomore Bradley Green (Landisville, PA / Hempfield) registered nine saves between the posts in the complete-game effort.
Westminster is back in action Thursday, April 14 as it hosts Penn College in a non-conference contest. Start time is 7 p.m.
