Jerry Vonderlehr Johnson, 70, of Richmond passed away peacefully Monday, August 15, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on July 1st, 1952 to Thomas O’Connor Johnson Jr. and Marie Dominica Bonini Johnson in Richmond, VA.
Jerry is survived by his wife and best friend, Deborah Vaughan Johnson, daughter, Katherine Upshaw (Willie), son, David Johnson (Catarina), grandchildren Carter, Tatum, Isabel, and James, brothers Thomas O’Connor Johnson III (Jenny) and Richard Boehling Johnson (Sheila), nephew Stephen Johnson and nieces Christine Cooper, Karen Meier and Jenny Johnson, brother-in-law James Vaughan Jr.
A graduate of Benedictine High School, Jerry served in the United States Air Force and Virginia Air National Guard, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant in 2003 with 29 years of total service. He retired from the Henrico County Police Department in 2004.
Known for his sense of humor, Jerry loved spending time with friends and family. He was incredibly proud of his children and adored his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle.
A funeral mass will be held 11 AM Friday September 9th at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3570 King William Avenune, West Point VA. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday September 8th at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th street, West Point VA.
