The Virginia DMV Highway Safety Office just awarded Henrico County Police a $5400 grant to help improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety. The money is enabling officers to step up enforcement in parts of the county with above-average pedestrian and bicyclist crashes. Those efforts have already started in the areas listed below.

* West Broad Street & Libbie Avenue
* Staples Mill Road & Townhouse Road
* Brook Road & Villa Park Drive
* Brook Road between I-95 and Azalea
* East Laburnum Avenue & Alma Avenue
* Nine Mile Road & South Laburnum Avenue
* Nine Mile Road & Airport Drive
* Williamsburg Road & Government Road
