HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The area of Greenwood Road and Winns Church Road is currently closed after a body was found near the roadside.
According to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the intersection of Greenwood Road and Winns Church Road just after 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 21 for a report of a body found near the shoulder.
When the deputies got to the scene, they found the the body of a deceased woman lying near the side of Winns Church Road.
Investigators are working to determine the identify of the woman and are working with the Medical Examiner’s office to determine her cause of death.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, all east and west lanes are closed in the vicinity of Greenwood Road and Route 625 E/W. VDOT said drivers should expect delays in the area due to the incident.
