2 women found dead in Henrico home, as man surrenders after hours-long barricade situation


HENRICO Co., Va. (WWBT) – A suspected shooter surrendered to police 6:30 p.m. Saturday, walking out of a Henrico home, after barricading himself inside for most of Saturday, according to police.

The suspect has now been identified as Richard Crowder, 60, of Henrico. He’s charged with two counts of second-degree murder, three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and one county of malicious shooting.

Henrico Police say two women were found dead inside the house off the 7600 block of Phillips Woods Drive. Crowder was on the phone with officers, while he exited the two-story home.

Officers were on the scene in eastern Henrico, since Crowder fired gunshots from within the house, just after 9:30 a.m.

Two men were seen running from the home. Police say they were not injured. Officers say this is a domestic-related incident.

Crowder is being held at the Henrico County Jail without bond.
