Ever wonder how to thatch a roof or build a mud hut?  On Sunday, May 6, Henrico students and families are encouraged to attend “Building Futures In South Sudan” to learn about our “sister high school”, Hope and Resurrection Secondary School in Atiaba, South Sudan.  At this free event, visitors will build a tukul, a traditional mud hut, eat beans and rice and experience how students live and learn while growing up in the world’s newest and poorest country.  ”Building Futures” will be held at Christ Church Episcopal in Glen Allen from 2-5 pm.  Visit the school’s website at hopeforhumanityinc.org to learn more.

You can also visit our Henrico website to see what we are doing for this great cause! http://henricowarriors.org/warriorsforhope/index_frames.html

April Seminars celebrate risk-taking. IB students are reminded there is GOOD risk-taking and BAD risk-taking. We will concentrate on understanding responsible use of technology and social media at all grade levels. In addition,

Freshmen will continue to work towards the Personal Project. They will work on their Proposals and Action Plans.

Sophomores will look at risk-taking in the context of their theme, “Making a Difference.” They will finish “Invisible Children” with this worksheet Invisible Children2 . They will also watch the documentary “Maya Lin” about the young Asian-American woman who designed the controversial Vietnam Memorial Wall in DC. That worksheet is here: Maya Lin. Both worksheets are due to your math teacher, IC the week after spring break and Maya Lin in the first week in May.

Juniors will continue work on the Extended Essay, receiving proposals back on 4/20.  Juniors will also receive information about the administration of IB exams.

Seniors will focus in IB Exams.
