Dear School Counselors and PTSA Presidents,

The Moody Middle School PTA is sponsoring a high school information session for our current 8th graders on March 23rd at 7:00 PM.  We need your help in inviting all of our Moody Alumni back to help with this important night.

We are asking the alumni to return to Moody to talk with our current Raiders about the factors that influenced their decision in choosing their high school and to share their high school experiences.  A few example questions that may be asked are:  How does the workload compare to Moody?  What types of extracurricular activities are available?  How long is your commute?  What makes your high school unique?

Please let the students know that there will be tables set up for each school and we would like 2-3 of them to be at the table.  The rest can catch up with fellow alumni and then trade places behind the table, in order to allow everyone a chance to talk with old friends.

We are asking them to R.S.V.P. on our website at www.mmspta.com just so we can prepare.  Last minute arrivals are welcome.  If they can’t make it but would like to send a message to old friends or current Raiders, they can write a message on our website and it will be posted at the event.

Thank you for your assistance in getting the word out.  If you or your students have any questions, I can be reached at president@mmspta.com or at 762.4961.

Sincerely,

Diana Barden

PTA President, G. H. Moody Middle School

IB Student Haiti Movement

Dear IB sister school~
The IB learner profile calls for students to be knowledgeable, compassionate, principled, and open-minded. With those characteristics, IB also seeks to teach students the importance of communicating. This IB profile is all the more relevant today as we reflect upon the recent tragedy in Haiti. Students all around the world have been moved to action. Students in the IB program at Henrico High School have decided to “Start a Movement for Haiti” by creating a website and blog to motivate kids around the world to find their own way to help. We are hoping that students around the world will post stories of their Haiti efforts to our blog. At the end of March, we hope that the IB community can look at our blog to remind students and teachers alike of just how much the IB learner profile applies to our world today. Please encourage your students to visit our website at http://www.wix.com/henricohs/haiti and post their stories to our blog. Thank your for your consideration!

Sincerely,
the IB students at Henrico High School, Virginia, USA

P.S. The website says that Henrico High School will be doing their movement on February 12th. We invite you to join us on that day by hosting a relief effort. Still, even if you hold your effort on a different date, please do post your story!
