Personal Project Begins

The Class of  2014 started its introduction to the Personal Project in seminar on 3/1.

In an effort to make this project PERSONAL, we have taken the Learner Profile trait students chose as best representing them and seen how that trait might be manifested in the Areas of Interaction.

Next, students will choose an Area of Interaction that best reflects their strengths and passions. From that, they will brainstorm three possible projects and provide feasibility studies for each.

See the power point: Diving into the Personal Project

Here are the worksheets for 3/1 and 3/22: Diving into the Personal Project

Exploring Possibilities in the Personal Project

By March 29, students will have a good idea of what they want to do and why, when they will be presented with the official requirements of the project. On April 4, students will hear from current sophomores and get words of wisdom about how to approach the project — or at least what NOT to do! In the week of April 11, students will submit their proposals via English class.

Book Drive is Coming!

Dear Warrior Students,

Hi, my name is Stephanie Bennett.  I am a sophomore in the I.B. Program here at HHS.  As part of my I.B. personal project, I will host a book drive for Reach Out and Read (ROR.)  http://www.rorva.org/  ROR is a nonprofit organization that “promotes early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud,” at the child’s first visit to the pediatrician.

I will host the book drive from November 8th to November 15th.    A ROR book donation container will be placed in the I.B. office.  Donated children’s books may be new or gently used.   Brightly colored, hardback books for ages 6 months to 5 years are best.  You’ll need to bring the books you collect to the I.B. Office on or before November 15th, 2010.

Get involved warrior family!  With your help, ROR VA would love to reach every child in Virginia who is 5 years old and younger, but we can’t do it without you!

Sincerely

Stephanie Bennett

Helpful Site for Chem Students

Posted by Mrs. Biddle in Uncategorized

One of our students found this site. She says, “It’s basically the chem syllabus for SL and HL, and if you click on it it gives you notes for each topic and subtopic. If you want even more detailed infromation, you click more, and it usually gives you diagrams and more in depth information. Also, on the top left hand corner there’s a dropdown menu called quicktest, and you can quiz yourself on all the topics. I actually found the website last year, when studying for finals, but they were just building the site, and all the topic werem’t uploaded yet. It seems that everything is done now, though. I just thought it would be really helpful for everyone during midterms and IB Exams! “
